Today’s exhortation 30/06/15
To everything there is a season
Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 (NKJV)
1 To everything there is a season,
A time for every purpose under heaven:
2 A time to be born,
And a time to die;
A time to plant,
And a time to pluck what is planted;
3 A time to kill,
And a time to heal;
A time to break down,
And a time to build up;
4 A time to weep,
And a time to laugh;
A time to mourn,
And a time to dance;
5 A time to cast away stones,
And a time to gather stones;
A time to embrace,
And a time to refrain from embracing;
6 A time to gain,
And a time to lose;
A time to keep,
And a time to throw away;
7 A time to tear,
And a time to sew;
A time to keep silence,
And a time to speak;
8 A time to love,
And a time to hate;
A time of war,
And a time of peace.
There are times . There are seasons. Seasons refer to specific period of time. Time is measurable. Season also refers to the period where a particular activity takes place. For example, rainy season, autumn season, dry season, winter season. You can even say the monthly flow of a woman comes every season. However the definition, this simple yet profound scripture in the Bible tells us that times and seasons exist. That there is no permanent situation, good or bad. That whatever you see or experience today is at best for a season or time. No wonder the Bible uses the sentence “it came to pass” or “it shall come to pass” very often. Because things do come and pass…..
Think about that time you had a burning desire in your heart – you were single and wanted to get married, you needed a house, help for your business, or you even had a deadline. Think about how it seemed as though you were going to simply ‘die’ if these things don’t come quickly.
Fast forward weeks, months and even years later…You now have these things that you were longing for! And trust me, you have fresh needs to be met at the moment! Why is that so? Because God set times and seasons in place, so that when we get what we desire, and it has come to pass, we can judge Him faithful.
And even as the Bible talks about seasons, we are also encouraged that there is a season for fruitfulness. A tree always brings forth fruit in its season, as long as all conditions are in place.
What do you do as a child of God? Let Psalms 1:1-3 be your guide
Blessed is the man
Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly,
Nor stands in the path of sinners,
Nor sits in the seat of the scornful;
2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord,
And in His law he meditates day and night.
3 He shall be like a tree
Planted by the rivers of water,
That brings forth its fruit in its SEASON,
Whose leaf also shall not wither;
And whatever he does shall prosper.
A child of God rooted in God’s word can never be disadvantaged. Stay in God and your season to celebrate too shall come.
