Exhortation 28/03/2018

Don’t waste your pain.

A friend comforted me.
It was as though she could get inside my skin or my brain, to walk in my shoes.
I had to ask myself, “hey, how was she able to do that?”. I wondered how someone else could have had such an understanding of the pain I was experiencing at that point.
Then something she said during our conversation gave me insight…..she spoke from the scripture-

2 Corinthians 1:4 KJV
[4] Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.

You see, this person had also experienced great pain in that area, so God was able to get across to me through her.
And of course, the Holy Spirit also comforts us in our times of distress, like no human being can do. But because we are also flesh, we need that comfort of knowing that we are not alone in what we are experiencing, and that brother/sister holding our hands through it, saying “let me hold your hand, I’ve walked this way before”, and sharing personal insights goes a long way to help.

Many times, we go through some experiences in life which tend to make us bitter and angry, asking God “why me?….why do I have to go through this?”.
God is a good Father, He doesn’t visit His children with evil. Like Jesus said in one of his parables….
“while men slept……an enemy has done this”. It is the enemy that tries to bring affliction our way sometimes. Those experiences are painful, yes…but God does turn every situation around for our good if we allow Him…

Romans 8:28 KJV
[28] “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”

Genesis 50:19-20 TLB
[19] “But Joseph told them, “Don’t be afraid of me. Am I God, to judge and punish you?
[20] As far as I am concerned, God turned into good what you meant for evil, for he brought me to this high position I have today so that I could save the lives of many people.” (Joseph addressing his brothers).

So what am I getting at, “don’t waste those painful experiences”.
Yes, the enemy meant it for evil, but God is turning it around for your dear Jewel. You will also then be a powerful instrument in His hands to minister the comfort you have received from God to others. That is great victory.
That is what Christ did for us, and what he told us to do for one another…..

Hebrews 4:15-16 NKJV
[15] For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.
[16] Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Jesus told Apostle Peter,

Luke 22:31-32 TLB
[31] “Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to have you, to sift you like wheat,
[32] but I have pleaded in prayer for you that your faith should not completely fail. So when you have repented and turned to me again, strengthen and build up the faith of your brothers.”

Jesus prayed for Peter, and in turn told him to strengthen others.

Allow God to comfort others through you.

2 Corinthians 1:3-4 NKJV
[3] Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort,
[4] who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.

He is the God of all comfort.
I pray for every hurting heart here this morning, that you will experience His comforting embrace like never before, and be lifted, in Jesus’ name.
